MONAVIE

You may have heard of it, you may not have but in the Gardner household we drink Monavie...Green MonaVie.

MonaVie is "a unique and delicious (it really is) nutritional beverage. The acai (a-sa-hee) berry is the foundation of the MonaVie blend, but with literally thousands of phytonutrients and antioxidants found in nature's fresh fruits, MonaVie didn't want to focus on just one at the expense of others. This led to MonaVie's selection of 18 additional fruits, each selected for it's unique, beneficial properties and ability to contribute a variety of phytonutrients and antioxidants to MonaVie's premier nutritional beverage. Together, the synergistic effect of the fruits in the MonaVie blend reaches far beyond what any single fruit could accomplish."

The acai berry is considered a superfood. You can buy acai drinks at Sam's or health food stores but apparently the berries used in those drinks are shipped back to the states and processed. MonaVie has a plant in the Amazon and freeze dries the berry as soon as it is picked.

We were skeptics but decided to try it (my dad had a patients mom that he didn't recognize when he saw her last so he's a believer). We started drinking it around Christmas. We took it in a Nalgene bottle skiing with us and I have been drinking it every day since my surgery. It sounds crazy but I so attribute some of my lack of pain to this stuff! The phytonutrients apparently really help with inflammation. We temporarily ran out last week and I missed about 5 days. May be in my head but the knee hurt more!
