We did this a few times growing up and it was a really neat experience. We used to put orange collars on them hoping no one would shoot them. My parents live on 20 acres and we see deer often prancing through the backyard. I can't help but think they are somehow thanking my dad for caring after the little ones.
They do best with a companion (that is how we ended up with our pot belly pig, Babe....that's another story) so we believe we have Flo the Doe coming soon. She is still too little to leave her nursery. I'll post pics when she arrives.

The pictures do not do justice to how small he is! Last week my brother was saddling up the horses and Chuck was spooked. He jumped over his hay bales and ran off into the woods. We were SICK! He is too small to survive on his own. Everyone in the family looked and looked for him. Dad went to the barn the next morning and would you believe he was cuddles up in the corner! He knew his way home...and he was very hungry!
