HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Southern Miss and Mississippi State have agreed to meet on the gridiron for the first time in 20 years.
A news conference to officially announce a home and home series between the instate rivals is set for noon in Jackson Thursday.
Expected to be just a two game series, MSU and USM have not played each other since 1990.
"I think it will be great," said USM Head Coach Larry Fedora, when asked Monday about the possibility of playing the Bulldogs.
With the addition of MSU to future schedules, USM will have opponents from the SEC, ACC, Big East and Big 12 conferences in the next two years.
The MSU-USM series could begin as early as next year.

We are headed to Starkville this weekend to watch the bulldogs and tigers play. We are praying it doesn't rain but will have fun regardless!
